Description
Limbo exists at the nexus between good and evil. Yet, Limbo is not the opposite of Nun, which is also a boundary plane. This boundary plane incurs a great deal of planar turbulence, as a result of residing between the radiant purity of good and darkness of evil on the side of lawfulness. It makes everything appear out of focus, as if one was in a dust storm. It also dulls colors, making people and things look grey.

The atmosphere is heavy with a melancholic sorrow, a constant reminder of the souls trapped within its confines. These are the spirits of the indecisive, those who lived their lives on the fence, never fully embracing the light or the dark. Condemned to an eternity of twilight, they drift aimlessly through the Gray Morass, their essence as indistinct as their lives.

Locations of Interest
Ashen Village - This is a spectral congregation where the lost souls of Limbo find fleeting solace in the company of their kindred. Drawn together by a shared emptiness, they form a mournful community devoid of purpose or interaction. Here, there is no commerce, no trade, only the silent communion of despair. Veiled in shadows, the villagers shroud their faces, their identities lost in the collective anonymity. They are ghosts haunting the ruins of their former selves, seeking a connection that can never truly be found. The Ashen Village is a desolate marketplace of the soul, where hope is a currency long since depleted.

Deplora - This gray city is home to the nithfael, a city adjacent to the Ashen Village. It is believed the nithfael are agents of law and order. Using their honed magical talents, they can shape the essence of Limbo, called limbus, into walls, swords, coins, or whatever they like. Periodically, a haunting, penetrating siren echoes through Limbo, a mournful wail that stirs the stagnant souls to migrate to the Ashen Village. When the mournful melody fades, the colossal gates of Deplora creak open. From within emerges a procession of robed nithfael. With cold efficiency, they scrutinize the awakened souls, their selection process as mysterious as their purpose. Those chosen are drawn into the city, their fate unknown.
