Description
Hell is known as a fiery pit of pain and suffering. It is where the souls of people who committed extreme, unrepentant misdeeds during their natural lives go. In Hell, those souls are tormented by a variety of malicious devils.

To enter Hell would be to see some fallen souls turned to giant maggots and exist as the playthings or food for nasty creatures.

Lakes and pools of fire are across the landscape. Random fire bursts appear. Its inhabitants are a twisted and grotesque collection of monsters and devils, each viler and more depraved than the last. These creatures are the tormentors of the damned, inflicting upon them a never-ending cycle of pain and suffering.

Those who are condemned to Hell are forced to endure a variety of horrific punishments. Some are chained to walls of fire, their flesh slowly consumed by the flames. Others are forced to drink from rivers of blood, their thirst never quenched. Still others are forced to witness the suffering of those they love, their own pain compounded by the pain of others.

If one could journey through Hell, it would feel as if one were descending lower and lower, from one layer of Hell to the next.

Common Inhabitants
The following creatures are common in this plane: lawful evil souls, a myriad of devils, and lesser and greater gods.

Unique Inhabitants
Luciplex
This is thought to be a aberrant energy source from Desamar that draws from the Negative Energy Plane. This is the energy upon which the nine devils (Asmodeus, Natas, Beelzebub, Lilith, Baphomet, Mammon, Abaddon, Belial, and Ashtaroth) siphon their own energy and hold great power.

The First Layer of Hell: Felsefe
One may expect the entrance to Hell to be ripe with forlorn elements, like a fiery landscape or screaming souls who are tormented by devils.

The first layer appears to be filled with meadows and blue skies and fluffy white clouds on a hot day. There are trees adorned with emerald leaves.

The only other characteristic that can be discerned is a gentle downhill journey from entering the layer no matter the direction traveled. When a traveler looks back to where they entered the layer, it looks as if the weather has turned less hospitable -- ominous storm front with potential wind, hail, and rain. Plus, the return journey always looks impassible in height, as if the traveler is at the base of a tall mountain. Looking backward is often disorientating.

Sooner or later, a traveler here will meet a son or daughter of Ashtaroth. They appear as simple folk who are minimally clothed -- some being nude. They will engage travelers with conversation and hospitality.

Unique Inhabitants
Ashtaroth (devil)
The Philosopher
He appears as a youthful nude male with long hair.
He likes to speaks using esoteric platitudes and is never far from an ancient blue dragon, who he trusts, rides, and has strong emotional ties. Ashtoroth is extremely prolific, writing on philosophy, magic, societal norms, and building economic systems. He controls this first layer of Hell.

The Second Layer of Hell: Shadi
The skies in this layer always seem to have an overcast.

There are hills, meadows, and bands of trees that have been specifically arranged, but for an unknown purpose.

There are several rural areas and a major urban area, named Oath.

In Oath, everyone is happy. Joyful, is always the mood.

Unique Inhabitants
Belial (devil)
Master of Manipulation
He appears as a middle-aged man dressed in the finest of garments. His hair is slicked back with aromatic oils.
This fallen angel is well known for his kind words and being thoroughly wicked. He is likely a demon (chaotic in nature), but has found power and control in Hell by well-timed opportunistic movements through unique circumstances. He controls this second layer of Hell.

The Third Layer of Hell: Khali
Perpetual twilight... That is what a traveler here will see. This layer is dark. Despite the lack of light, vegetation grows here and animals graze pastures. Souls here have to eat, but the food has no taste. It is assumed more food, not less, will bring flavor. Souls become fat and this prevents movement. Yet, if the souls become too fat to move, bone devils prod them until they move.

Unique Inhabitants
Abaddon (devil)
The Destroyer
He is a thin man who has a skeletal head and great bat wings.
He controls a great area on his third layer of Hell, called Masak Madvil. He controls a vast army of bone devils.

The Fourth Layer of Hell: Sarden
This area of Hell is cold. Really cold. The lieutenants of Mammon, frost devils, force people here to mine for two things: gold and coal. The coal is needed to warm the homes of humans, but the gold has more value.

A traveler here will soon learn: possession is ownership, the effects of frostbite, and everything has a high cost.

Unique Inhabitants

King of Greed
He appears as a gold-skinned giant with giant upward pointed horns on each side of his head. He wears expensive rings and wears the Amulet of Thu'ul'gan. He is a fallen angel.

The Fifth Layer of Hell: Johash
This layer of Hell is bizarre. It is known for frequent public uprisings, crazy performances, strange proclamations, wild stories, and perplexing musical ensembles. It exists in a constant desire for change. It exists as Baphomet's experimentation of ideas thrusted upon human souls.

Unique Inhabitants
Baphomet (devil)
The Deceiver
It has wings, a goat-head, and is associated with a pentagram. Baphomet has both male and female anatomy, part animal and part human.
He enjoys twisting the minds of poets and musicians to create works that transform the values of societies. Baphomet controls the fifth layer of Hell.

The Sixth Layer of Hell: Shesot
This is a dark layer of Hell of perpetual night. There are spiders of several sizes and the webs they spin. Packs of wolves prey on the weak. Souls here toil for opportunities in the bordellos. It is only there that these souls can briefly gain a moment of pleasure.

Lord of Spears and Swords
He often appears in humanoid form with characteristics of a red dragon.
He is a fallen angel and purveyor of disharmony and war. Natas controls this eighth layer of Hell. He sometimes combs battlefields at the end of conflicts searching for souls to consume.

Unique Locations
Malebolge - This the City of Torment. It is not a real city. It is a giant mound of mud surrounded by deep concentric ditches. The souls who have committed the worst offenses walk the deepest ditches farthest from the center. The farther the soul is from the center, the more torture it receives.
