Hytius, a ruged hunter, learned of a secret through Bynius' embroidered hanky.
He found it wrapped among his alluring lady's girdle.
Visibly pained, a disturbed Hytius confronts a masculine Bynius with heightened emotion.
They argue. A struggle ensues. Hytius thrusts and mortally wounds Bynius.

Hytius never learns the hanky was strategically placed there via his servant who was paid to do so by Duke Machus.
Hytius is tried for murder and imprisoned in the duke's dungeon.
Upon feeling the weight of his shattered life, Hytius stops eating and eventually dies.

Soon therafter, Duke Machus learns his daughter is killed by wild dogs -- dogs that Hytius was paid to dispatch.
Duke Machus, distraught from the loss of his daughter, mismanages his life and loses his standing as duke.
Machus is left to contemplate his miserable life.
He even contracts leprocy.

Machus forlornly walks the streets, watching his body rot off one piece at a time.
The final act shows Machus screaming in painful agony while being ripped to shreds from a pack of vicious dogs.

Central Story of Caliptokos, by Heridotinos

Caliptokos, Chain of Islands, Sea of Fate, neural love, cc0
Caliptokos, Chain of Islands, Sea of Fate

This land mass is far east and south in the island chain and conveniently 10 miles from the shore of The Eastern Lands. The name was actually derived from an ancient island dialect, meaning "many hands in the fire." Heridotinos, the modern poet of Trofi, made a play by the same name. Several morally compromised characters all conducted business together at each other's expense. The story ultimately deteriorated to extortion, violence, and finally death.

Many of cities and islands do not trade directly with Poxmuth and Joria. Through intermediaries (opportunists), legal trade of supplies and services occurs here, as a result of such embargos. Consequently, some shady characters come to this island to make complicated deals.

Dealmakers need establishments to make deals. Notable Taverns/Bars/Inns: Tora ("Now") (T) and Emporio Oneiron ("Dream Trade") (I).

Tora or "Now" (Tavern)
The inn is marked with a broad set of horns. Inside are depictions of various minotaur. Some minotaur appear in opposition with centaurs. Above the bar is a minotaur head. It is either the work of an excellent taxidermist or prop master. The area has numerous alcoves that fit four people snugly for discrete conversation. The bar area is at the center of the establishment.

Staff wear loosely fitted white linen tunics that leave one shoulder bare, called an exomis.

Rumors

  • There is no law of the islands or of the king that prevents open trade here. However, the king keeps a close watch on trade via his spies.
  • Heridotinos is a useful idiot. Strategists are using him to create plays and stories related to Caliptokos to root out nefarious forces acting within the islands.
